The Donut Man on Route 66 in Glendora, California

On Route 66 in Los Angeles County as it cuts through the town of Glendora, California, there is a shop that’s definitely worth stopping for if you’re feeling hungry.  That would be The Donut Man, which has been serving donuts for over 40 years!

This is a place that has received a lot of attention from national and international media, including features on The Food Channel and The Cooking Channel.  One look in their window and you can see why!

Neek and I drove there because we had heard wonderful things about their Fresh Strawberry donuts and that they were currently in season.

We pulled up as we saw the building, were temporarily confused by a NO DONUT MAN PARKING sign, then realized that was for the business next door and that there was parking for The Donut Man in the driveway just afterward.

There was a line of several people in front of us and while we waited we peered in the window.  What a mouth-watering display!  So many great donuts to choose from.

When it was our turn, we made sure we got those strawberry donuts, which we could see were bursting open with red ripe fruit.  But we had also read great reviews of their Tiger Tail donuts, which are a foot long.  So we also got a couple of those and took everything to go.  It was a sunny day and we wanted to get home and try it while it was fresh.

As you can see by watching the video, the Fresh Strawberry donuts did not disappoint!  The strawberries were amazingly sweet and very juicy.  The donut itself had a nice glaze and matched the fruit perfectly.  We also enjoyed the Tiger Tails the following morning.  We can’t wait to come back to the Donut Man – maybe next time when their famous Fresh Peach donuts are in season!
